Here are a few handy tips befor you go

If you want to work you need also you need a tax fill number you can get one online. It will takes 28 days to reseve your number in the meen time you get a tempery number. You can only apply this number if you are in Australia and not befor that.
A phone card for calling home I used Say good day for $ 10 you can call home for about two and half hours to the Netherlands. There are of course much more carts avelibel but that you have to just find out for yourself.
And you should think about how you want to travel across the country. Do you want to travel by bus there are several Couches around the country.
